Work out an estimated price after a percentage discount and sales tax before you head to checkout. This free calculator shows the discount amount and estimated total, using the tax rate you enter.
How to use this calculator
Enter the original price, the percentage discount and an optional sales tax rate. Use 0 for no discount or no tax. The calculation applies the discount first, then applies tax to that reduced price.
What Will I Actually Pay?

A worked example
For a $50 item with 20% off, the discount is $10 and the reduced price is $40. With an 8% tax rate, the estimated total is $43.20.
The calculation: Reduced price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). Estimated total = reduced price × (1 + tax rate ÷ 100).
Does this include shipping or every checkout rule?
No. This simple estimate excludes shipping, fees, multiple discounts and retailer-specific tax rules. Check the retailer’s final checkout total. A discount is useful only when the purchase fits your needs.
