Estimate how much a purchase costs each time you use it. This free cost-per-use calculator can help you compare a frequently used item with one you might use only occasionally.
How to use this calculator
Enter the purchase price and a realistic number of expected uses. Include delivery in the price if it is part of buying the item. Compare similar items using reasonable estimates rather than an optimistic lifespan.
Is It Worth Buying?
Estimate cost per use to compare real lasting value—not merely the initial sticker price.
Calculations run in your browser. Values are not saved by this calculator. No signup required.
A worked example
A $75 item used 50 times costs $1.50 per use. A $30 item used five times costs $6 per use. That comparison describes use, not product quality or a guarantee that either purchase will last.
The calculation: Cost per use = purchase price ÷ expected number of uses.
What about repairs, refills or subscriptions?
Those costs are not included automatically. Add relevant estimated costs to the price if you want a broader comparison. A low cost per use does not make an unaffordable or unnecessary purchase worthwhile.
