We get it, the more you work, the more you want to show off just what your wealth buys. Often people will use their hard earned money to buy a house that is way too big and find themselves just living mainly in one or two rooms. You find yourself walking around a house that is too big. Thus, just because you can afford it, doesn't mean you should buy it. Living in a smaller house or even a condo or apartment is fine for a lot of people. You can often be a bit more comfortable and cozy, kind of like when you swaddle a baby. Babies often feel more comfortable not needing a whole lot of space. That's how everyone started out, however, in society and the media the push for bigger and better is overwhelming.
Do you really need lots indoors when you have the whole world outdoors? The key is living in as small of a house as you can comfortably do so. You'll save on mortgages, rent, insurance, heating, cooling, repairs and more. You'll also be able to get rid of some of the clutter and temptations to buy everything, just because you have the room to store it, doesn't mean you should. You can save money and also the environmental footprint by living in a small home. Just something to think about. Don't feel guilty if you live in a mansion. I would love to live in one myself. The main point is that wherever you live, be it in a singlewide trailer, an RV or the large house on the hill, do you really need something bigger? If the answer is no, perhaps use the money for something else more important in your life, or, do something charitable, like help out the homeless with it.
